We Know Strudel
AUTHENTICALLY AUSTRIAN
Little Austria® specializes in traditional Austrian premium strudels. Strudels from our ovens are clean label and hand-crafted with locally sourced ingredients. Every strudel dough is carefully stretched by hand, then filled with juicy, orchard picked apples or soft and sweet farmers cheese, before being rolled to become what is the most popular pastry in Austria.
Little Austria's apple strudels are made without preservatives, artificial extras, corn syrup and palm oil. They are also 100% plant based.

About Us
TWO AUSTRIANS ON A MISSION TO BRING DELICIOUS, AUTHENTIC STRUDEL TO THE U.S.

Little Austria was started by two Austrians, Berni and Helene, who were on a mission to find authentic strudel in the United States. Not finding what they were looking for, they decided to take things into their own hands.
Starting out of a shared kitchen and equipped with a mixer, an apple peeler, and a rolling pin the two started baking. The word got out and the demand for strudel grew quickly. After a year of baking, and not being able to keep up, they needed to buy a whole bakery’s worth of equipment to keep rolling out the dough for their sought after strudels.
Today, Little Austria has grown into an award winning small business offering a delicious strudel experience by staying true to the traditional technique of hand-stretching the dough and by using locally sourced, high quality ingredients, to craft what is the most popular dessert in Austria - Strudel!

What is Strudel?
AN AUTHENTIC AUSTRIAN PASTRY

A flaky, layered, lightly sweet pastry of fruit or cheese popular in Austria. The word "strudel" comes from the German word "whirlpool" due to it's swirled, layered appearance. Strudel-baking is truly an art that lies in finding the perfect balance between its paper-thin hand-stretched dough and its delicate filling. The dough's ingredients are quite basic (flour, water, oil, vinegar, salt) but, the tricky part is stretching the dough so thin that you can read a newspaper through it.
The most common filling is based on apples. But fillings can pretty much be made with an endless variety of ingredients, such as topfen (sweet, soft quark cheese), cherries, pears, berries, plums, even spinach and more.
